Councilman Wants New York City to Pay for Armed Guards in Houses of Worship
New York City NY May 6 2019
A New York City councilman plans to introduce a bill this week that would require the city to pay for an armed security guard at any house of worship that requests the protection.
The bill was prompted by recent terrorist attacks and mass shootings inside churches, synagogues, and mosques around the world.
According to the councilman, Kalman Yeger, the city needs to protect churches and their congregations.
No word yet on how Yeger plans to pay for the security guards.
