County-City Building security officer praised for quick action
South Bend IN March 10 2023
A County-City Building security officer is being praised for his quick thinking in the line of duty.
The incident happened just before 8 last Friday morning.
Security personnel noticed a white SUV parked near the entrance… with a woman slumped over the wheel and loud music playing.
Officer John Kronewitter was approaching the vehicle when it started to drift forward. He grabbed the passenger door put the SUV in park and was able to wake-up the woman.
“I’ve been on the South Bend Police Department for 32 years.
So, I mean it’s just something you get used to.
And like I said it’s nothing’ that nobody else would, wouldn’t have done. So, really, you know, just makes you feel good that you could help somebody out and a bunch of people didn’t get in an accident, or she ran into a building,” said John Kronewitter, CCB security guard.
The woman drove away a couple minutes later.
No one was injured.
