Covid-19 related deaths of security officers rise to 472
Charlotte NC April 12 2021
The offices of Private Officer International continues to work diligently to locate, verify and report the deaths of security officers who are killed or die in duty-related deaths.
The Coronavirus pandemic proved to be challenging for us to gather statistically verified data but thanks to several cooperating news groups including the NY Post, the Associated Press and Guardian Media, along with several others, we have now been able to broaden our news and information relating to the private security industry, including death and injury reports.
In March, the Guardian confirmed that there was more than ninety security officer deaths in California from COVID19 and our joint research found that number to be more than 130 security officers who had died.
New reports provided to us between March and April from Guam, Puerto Rico, New York City,
Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, the State of Florida, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, added 63 more security officer deaths from COVID-19 to our statistical database.
As earlier reported in 2020, 279 known security officers died on duty from suspected COVID- 19 related illnesses.
The additional deaths that have now been reported bring the total known deaths up to 472 deaths.
Our office continues to work with numerous resources to bring you the latest, most accurate information.
