Ct High School Security Officer Passes Away Suddenly
Rocky Hill CT March 22 2020
David A. Warriner, 62, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband for 25 years of Susan (Baio) Warriner, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 14, 2020.
Born in Northampton, MA on June 15, 1957, he was the son of the late Wayne and Lee (Turner) Warriner.
Dave received a Bachelor’s Degree from CCSU. He was a Wethersfield police officer for 25 years, attaining the title of Sergeant and serving as a DARE Officer within the Wethersfield Elementary Schools.
He currently worked as a security guard at Newington High School, where he was affectionately known as “Officer Dave.”
He was a member of the Hartford Golf League, enjoyed playing ice hockey and softball, and was an avid flight tracker, ice cream aficionado, newspaper reader, and milk drinker. He had a great sense of humor and loved a good pun. Dave was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, New York Giants and Hartford Whalers, but there was nothing he loved more than cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. He will be forever missed by his devoted wife Susan, his four children, and his five adored grandchildren: Jennifer Warriner of New London, Daniel Warriner, wife Heather and their son Owen of Rocky Hill, Carly (Warriner) Corrigan, husband Jim and their daughters Caroline and Emma of West Simsbury, Derek Warriner, partner Ashley and their sons Derek and Jameson of Wethersfield. He is also survived by three brothers, Rick Warriner and wife Lynn, Bill Warriner and wife Nancy, and Bob Warriner and wife Cheryl, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends including Art Kureczka who was like another brother to him. Special thanks to Dave’s extended family at Newington High School and the Wethersfield Police Department. Funeral services and burial will be private due to the current health crisis.
A memorial service will be held at a date and time to be determined. Donations in Dave’s memory may be made to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Foundation, 282 Washington St., Hartford, CT 06106.
