CT man nabbed stealing baby formula at CT Walmart stores
WALLINGFORD CT May 29 2018 — A local man faces charges after police said he stole more than $300 worth of infant formula from Walmart on Saturday.
John Sampson, 39, of 45 John St., was charged with first-degree criminal trespass and sixth-degree larceny.
Police responded to Walmart, 844. N. Colony Road, around 9 p.m. after store security saw Sampson conceal 14 cans of infant formula and walk out of the store, according to a police report.
About 30 minutes before the incident, the New Haven Walmart had notified the Wallingford store that Sampson was apprehended for shoplifting in New Haven and warned not to go into any Walmart store.
Sampson told police he stole the formula to sell, the report said.
Sampson was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Monday. Bond was set at $5,000 and he is due back in court on June 6.
