Customer shot at Lumberton NC Walmart store on Black Friday
LUMBERTON NC November 26, 2022 One person was injured after a shooting that occurred Friday at the Walmart Supercenter on Fayetteville Road in Lumberton.
The victim, whose name has not yet been released, arrived at UNC Health Southeastern Friday with a gunshot wound that did not appear to be life-threatening, Lumberton police said.
Officers were dispatched Friday at 11:26 a.m. to reports of gunfire at the supercenter at 5070 Fayetteville Road, according to a release from the LPD.
Upon arrival, while the store was still being evacuated, officers entered the building in an attempt to locate the gunman and any victims.
After a search, police did not find the shooter or other victims, according to the LPD. Surveillance footage shows the gunman fleeing the store as it is being evacuated. The suspect has been identified and detectives are currently trying to locate him. The name of the suspect has been withheld for now.
According to the police, it is an isolated incident between two people who know each other well.
As of 2:15 p.m. Friday, the Lumberton Police Department is not aware of any other customers or employees who suffered injuries as a result of this incident.
