Dallas Security Guard Charged With Murder
Dallas TX November 17 2018
Dallas police charged a security officer with murder after they say he shot and killed a man who was running away from him.
The confrontation happened at the Magnolia Creek Apartments in the Red Bird area of Dallas just before 6 p.m. Thursday.
Dallas police are not answering any questions about the case. They only released a statement about what happened.
Police say 25-year-old Nicholas Chambers was working at the apartments as a uniformed security officer and was armed with a handgun.
The man who was shot, 22-year-old Christopher Means, approached Chambers while he was sitting in his vehicle.
It’s not clear what started the confrontation, but police say Means assaulted Chambers with a lug-nut wrench. Police say Chambers got out of his car and shot Means multiple times as he was running away. Chambers then stood over him and shot him again.
Means was pronounced dead at the hospital. Chambers was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries to his head and face. He was then discharged and taken to DPD.
When Chambers was interviewed by a homicide detective, police say he admitted to shooting Means as he ran away and as he laid on the ground.
Chambers’ bond was set at $40,000.
