Dayton hospital security finds unattended 8-month-old in unlocked vehicle
DAYTON OH Jan 2 2018
A Dayton mother is facing child endangering charges after police said she left her 8-month-old son in her vehicle unattended at Dayton Children’s Hospital Saturday night.
Police responded to the hospital around 7:15 p.m. after receiving a call from a security officer at the hospital reporting the child left unattended, according to a Dayton police report.
The child’s mother, Teonna Lewis, 27, told police she left the child in the running and unlocked vehicle while she delivered food to someone at the hospital as part of her new job for a food delivery company, the report read.
Lewis told police she was not able to find anyone to watch the child while she worked and left him in the car, “because he was sleeping and she did not want to wake him up,” according to the report.
The mother said “she would never harm her son nor do anything that would jeopardize his safety.”
The child was not injured during the incident.
