Detroit security guard stabbed, kills attacker
Detroit MI Jan17th, 2022
A restaurant security officer has fatally shot a man who attacked and stabbed him over the weekend.
Police responded to the incident and found a man dead and a security guard bleeding from several stab wounds.
Witnesses told the police that the man had become loud and was arguing when security attempted to calm the situation and asked the man to leave.
An altercation between the two men started at the Prime and Proper restaurant and the person who ultimately stabbed the security officer. The restaurant security guard then shot the 52-year-old attacker, police said.
Police and EMS arrived at the scene at about 12:10 a.m. Sunday.
No arrests have been announced. The stabbing victim was in stable condition, police said. No other injuries were reported.
Justin Near, a spokesman for the restaurant, said the security officer worked for a third-party security contractor.
“We are working closely with authorities and have provided them with all security camera footage to assist in the investigation,” Near said. “… We pray for the security officer’s swift and full recovery.”
NOTE: This was the third fatal shooting involving a security officer this weekend.
