Disney security investigators nab housekeeper for theft
Orlando FL May 27 2017 A housekeeper at the Walt Disney World Resort was arrested on charges of theft Tuesday, according to an Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit.
Mayra Alejandra Burgos, 35, of Taft, had been the subject of a “covert corporate investigation” due to an unusually high number of thefts from hotel rooms she serviced, the report said.
Disney staff staged a room at the Old Key West Resort and put $200 in $20 bills in a nightstand, according Orange County deputies report. Disney security investigators watched with live cameras as Burgos entered the room and opened the nightstand drawer. She took a $20 bill and left, according to the report.
A Disney security investigator confronted Burgos after she exited the room, and security investigators conducted an interview with her, the affidavit said.
Orange County deputies were called and arrested Burgos on charges of grand theft, according to a report from the sheriff’s office. She was released on a $1,500 bond.
