Dodger Stadium Security Guards Sentenced for Theft of Team Merchandise
Los Angeles CA June 2 2017 Three men were sentenced on Thursday after they all entered no contest pleas to charges of stealing team merchandise from the Los Angeles Dodgers to then sell.
Juan DeDios Prada, 59, of Palmdale, Calif., and Fernando Sierra, 63, of Lancaster, Calif., each pleaded to one count of second-degree commercial burglary, according to the Los Angeles Country district attorney’s office.
Jesse Luis Dagnesses, 51, of Huntington Park, Calif., pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property exceeding $950 in value, which included baseballs and team jerseys, according to authorities.
Prada and Sierra worked as security guards at Dodger Stadium from 2013 to 2016. They were accused of stealing from an equipment room, using masks, gloves and headlamps. The pair then allegedly gave the stolen goods to Dagnesses to sell.
All three were sentenced to three years formal probation, 120 hours of Caltrans work and ordered to pay $2,500 in restitution to the Dodgers, according to the district attorney’s office.
If any of the men violate probation, which includes selling any memorabilia, they are subject to a 16-month county jail sentence, according to authorities.
