Dresden couple faces slew of charges in Walmart robbery-police pursuit
Brunswick ME May 22 2019 A Dresden couple faces several criminal charges after allegedly fleeing Walmart in Brunswick with a cart full of merchandise, then leading police on a high-speed chase to Bath.
Travis Crowley, 37, faces charges of assault, robbery, and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, according to a report in Brunswick’s The Times Record. Carol Crowley, 31, faces charges of driving to endanger, eluding a police officer, operating after suspension, and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.
The Crowleys allegedly exited Walmart with a cart full of merchandise and forced their way past the store’s loss prevention staff on April 30, the Brunswick Police Department told the newspaper.
The couple fled the store in a blue GMC pickup truck with Carol Crowley at the wheel. A Sagadahoc County sheriff’s deputy saw the truck in West Bath and attempted to stop it.
Carol Crowley allegedly led the deputy on a chase along State Road and Route 1, passing other vehicles in a dangerous manner and reaching 80 mph, Sheriff Joel Merry told The Times Record.
Carol Crowley eventually pulled over near the viaduct. Travis Crowley exited the vehicle and began to walk away until a deputy shouted for him to stop.
Travis Crowley was arrested and taken to the Cumberland County Jail in Portland. Carol Crowley was arrested and taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.
The Crowleys were convicted of heroin trafficking in 2014. The couple had been buying heroin from a New York City couple who would bring it to Wiscasset, where the Crowleys would distribute it from their residence.
