Drones to be a part of security plan at PGA Championship
ST LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. July 12 2018
Authorities planning the security detail for the PGA Championship announced on Tuesday that they plan on using some additional technology to keep everyone safe.
Besides the various layers of physical security and law enforcement they you may or may not see, this year there’ll be an eye in the sky.
Authorities say drones will be part of the security plan when the PGA Championship is held at Bellerive Country Club in early August.
On Wednesday, federal, state and local authorities got together to discuss how security is going to work at the tournament.
Because the tournament is being held at a venue that is spread out over many acres, such as a golf course, authorities say drones will be vital in security.
Drones will help us to monitor a larger area from our central command post and cover more area quicker and easier.
