Drunk pair sneak into bar, 1 taken to hospital after bouncer incident
CONWAY, S.C. May 6 2019 One suspect was taken to the hospital after a bouncer was forced to tackle him, according to an incident report.
It happened at The Coop in Conway early Thursday morning.
According to an incident report from Conway police, John Baker and John Dougherty were denied entry to the bar.
A bouncer told police he refused to let them inside because they were too drunk, and the bar was closing soon, officials said.
According to the report, the bouncer says both Baker and Dougherty sneaked inside from the back of the building.
The bouncer says he escorted the men outside and told them to leave.
That’s when Baker and Dougherty started punching wooden vent covers on the front of the building causing damage, according to the report.
One of them pushed the bouncer before they both tried to run away.
The Coop employee chased them and tackled Baker in the median in front of the bar.
Both men waited with the bouncer for police to arrive, according to the report.
The report states that Baker was taken to the hospital for treatment for the injuries to his face.
Baker is charged with malicious injury to animals or personal property, trespassing, and public disorderly conduct.
Dougherty is charged with malicious injury to animals or personal property, entering premises after warning or refusing to leave on request, and public disorderly conduct.
