Durban thieves give up after relentless pursuit by security officers
Durban S. Africa November 10 2018 Two suspected thieves were arrested by Marshall Security after they tried to steal a vehicle from Musgrave Road in Berea, Durban.
According to KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele, the owner spotted the suspects attempting to steal his vehicle and screamed for help before calling for help via a community WhatsApp group last Friday.
A statement by the security company said the officers were alerted via a voice note and given details of the suspects as well a description of their vehicle.
The suspects were spotted in the Greyville area and a pursuit ensued before they attempted to abandon their vehicle near the Greyville Racecourse.
KwaZulu-Natal police have confirmed that two of the suspects were arrested by private security officers.
Charges of attempted theft of a motor vehicle are currently being investigated by Berea police.
