Eau Claire police concerned about security company advertising door-to-door
Eau Claire WI November 29 2018 Eau Claire police are issuing a warning about a security company claiming to be working with local authorities to keep you safe.
According to police, Secure Wisconsin has been placing door hangers on residents’ doors in Eau Claire.
The door hangers read the company has decided to conduct an awareness campaign with the Eau Claire Police Department, which is not true, according to police.
Eau Claire police officials say they do not endorse any private security company.
In addition, police say the company may be breaking the law.
“We are concerned they are in violation of our direct seller’s ordinance in Eau Claire,” said Eau Claire Officer Bridget Coit. “You need a permit to go an solicit business door-to-door if you do not have a storefront or an actual location in Eau Claire. This company, Secure Wisconsin, does not have a permit to do that and we are working on trying to contact them and get more information and advise them of our concerns.”
News 18 reached out to Secure Wisconsin and they declined to comment.
