Employee stole $52,000 from Windburne Fire Company

Clearfield police are investigating the theft over $52,000 from the Windburne Fire Company. According to authorities, the suspect is an employee of the fire company.
A police report states that approximately $52,000 was stolen from the fire company over the course of a three-year period.
According to fire Chief Howard David, the individual has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
David said company members have used their own money to keep the station running, but the station will accept any support from the community.
Officials said services to the community will not be affected. According to David, the company has insurance for this type of incident.
A similar incident happened to the Windburn Fire Company in 2016. A former treasurer of the fire company, Brittany Bell, faced 168 counts of theft after spending $43,136.65 of the company’s money on herself.
According to court documents. Bell pleaded guilty to three felony counts and 60 misdemeanor counts in October 2016.
Police said the cases are not related.
