Encore Boston Harbor to sue guests who won’t pay room occupancy violation fines
EVERETT, Mass. Sept 11 2020
Encore Boston Harbor says it will pursue legal action against any guest who fails to pay the fines for exceeding occupancy limits for rooms or suites inside the resort casino.
The casino, which is located in Everett, previously announced that it will charge guests who violate the occupancy limits a cleaning fee of $500 per person and up to $3,000.
Encore says the move to sue those guests who fail to pay the fines is part of its plan to further ensure the health and safety of its guests and employees during the coronavirus pandemic.
The resort casino currently allows a maximum of four people in any of its hotel rooms and a maximum of eight people inside its two-bedroom suites.
According to Encore, it has increased the number of security personnel at its hotel elevator banks to ensure only registered guests have access to its hotel rooms and that no more than four people are in an elevator at any given time. Security has also increased their patrols of hotel floors throughout the night.
In addition, security personnel are monitoring all supplies that are being taken to guest rooms to ensure there are no party materials or excessive quantities of food and beverages being brought into the hotel rooms, casino officials said. Surveillance cameras are also being used to monitor hotel hallways and elevator banks to ensure that the proper room occupancy is maintained and safe physical distancing is staking place.
Encore says its health and safety plan was created in consultation with leading public health professionals, in addition to requirements laid out by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission and recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
