Eugene Public Library security report man dancing on top of police car
Eugene OR May 31 2017 A Eugene man was arrested after a security guard saw him standing on top of a Eugene police patrol vehicle and stomping on it while taking photographs of himself, police spokeswoman Melinda McLaughlin said in a news release.
Eugene Public Library security contacted the police department shortly before 11:30 a.m. Friday to report that a man was standing on top of the Chevrolet Caprice patrol vehicle, stomping on it and “taking selfies,” McLaughlin said. The patrol car was parked at 1062 Charnelton St.
After another bystander also reported the activities, a police sergeant detained Julian Gerard Mendez, 24, of Eugene. He was charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
The vehicle “ended up with significant scratches and a dent,” McLaughlin said. The estimated cost to repair the vehicle is $1,000.
