Evanston Township High School security guard charged with sexually assaulting student
Evanston ILL February 14 2019 A former security guard at Evanston Township High School was charged Tuesday with sexually assaulting a student in November 2018, Evanston police said.
Michael Haywood, 33, of Evanston, turned himself in to Evanston police on Tuesday and was charged with criminal sexual assault by a person in authority, said police Commander Ryan Glew.
The incident involved a female 17-year-old Evanston Township student, Glew said. The alleged assault occurred on Nov. 23 in Evanston while Haywood was still employed at the school, Glew said. He no longer works at the high school.
A fellow student told school officials of the allegations, who then reported them to Evanston police, Glew said.
Haywood is expected to appear in Cook County bond court Wednesday.
School officials were not immediately available to comment Tuesday afternoon.
