Fairfield County Protective Agency has the (W)right Man for the Job
Monroe CT May 4 2020 The skills gained and honed during 12 years in the United States Marines – three of them as military police, prepared Jessie Wright for a lifetime of protecting others.
He demonstrated that protective instinct on September 11, 2001. While most people ran from the World Trade Center after the terrorist attacks, Wright was one of those brave first responders who ran toward Ground Zero in an effort to save people. And it is that same protective instinct that determined Wright’s career path as the head of his own successful security firm.
From humble roots working as a bouncer at nightclubs, Wright has risen through the ranks protecting everyone from business owners to the rich and famous. Today, he is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fairfield County Protective Agency, based in Monroe.
“As a Marine, I swore to protect the United State of America. Why not make that same effort to protect the community? What I love about this job is helping people. If I can provide security to protect a client’s business and property then I’m doing my job,” said Wright. His five star-rated Fairfield County Protective Agency, established in 2017, has a staff of 25 trained professional security men and women, and he is looking to hire more for his growing business. Wright provides special training for his armed and unarmed staff, all of whom are insured, bonded, and licensed. Wright himself is licensed in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey.
Wright’s imposing appearance, combined with his winning personality, made him the ideal candidate for the role of security detail, bodyguard and personal driver for movie stars, rap artists and political figures. For ten years Wright worked as the security professional for the National Action Network in New York City. During his tenure there Wright was the personal driver and security officer for Rev. Al Sharpton.
“It was an amazing experience. I got to meet a lot of stars. I got to meet Barack Obama when he was a senator and I got to meet him again when he became president. I got to go to President Clinton’s house (in Chappaqua, New York) and meet his family,” Wright said. “I’ve done work with Denzel Washington, Kevin Hart and Bobbie Brown,” said Wright, who was also hired as security detail for the funerals of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston.
Wright’s business centered largely on New York City and the surrounding area until he met a woman from Fairfield County. “I met my wife online. Our first date was on Friday the 13th at Exit 13 off I-95 at 13 hundred hours,” he said, speaking in military time. He moved to Shelton after marrying her in 2011, and therefore shifted his focus to security jobs from Westport to Hartford, although he does occasionally take assignments in other parts of Connecticut and the Tri-State area.
Clients hire Wright and his staff for hours, days, months at a time, and for long-term contracts. They work at weddings and other special events; they protect construction sites and private residences; and they escort business people to banks when transacting financial matters. Sometimes the staff of Fairfield County Protective Agency do their job subtly and other times they are visibly conducting their duties, traveling in one of the company’s four vehicles – all former police cars and identifiably so.
