Fargo man charged with assaulting hospital security officer
FARGO, N.D. February 3 2019 A West Fargo man is charged with one felony count of simple assault and one misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief after court documents say he assaulted two Sanford security officers and destroyed an emergency room door in late December 2018.
Court documents filed today say West Fargo Police had 26-year-old Ryan Hansen on a mental health hold at the Sanford Emergency Room in the early morning hours on Dec. 22. Documents say Hansen was intoxicated and had been combative.
Staff reported that at one point, Hansen ran full speed from the back of his hospital room and hit the solid wood door, destroying it.
Documents go on to say that once the door was broken, Hansen ran into the nurses station where Sanford security officers tried to control his movements.
Two officers were struck and injured by Hansen, one in the ear and the other had several small abrasions on his face and head.
Hansen currently has a warrant out for his arrest.
