Fla. security officer knocks gun away from armed robber
ORMOND BEACH, Fla. June 8 2017– Ormond Beach police are looking for a man who they say tried to rob the Tropic Sun Towers Monday morning before a security guard threw him to the floor.
Police said the man entered the lobby of the Tropic Sun Towers on the 500 block of South Atlantic Avenue at 5:07 a.m. wearing a black hoodie and a piece of cloth or a bandanna over his face.
The man pointed a handgun at the security guard and yelled, “Give it up, give it up,” police said. The security guard knocked the gun out of the man’s hand and threw him to the floor and out of the lobby.
Police said the man yelled, “Call the police, call the police,” before fleeing the area.
The man was believed to be 18-25 years old, 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds, with a brown crewcut hair style, according to police. He was last seen wearing the black hoodie and blue jeans, the blue bandanna or cloth and dark tennis shoes with white soles.
