Flagler security officer shot up neighbor’s home while celebrating 4th of July
FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. July 28 2021— A man who works as an armed security officer has been arrested after firing multiple gunshot into his neighbor’s home while celebrating the Fourth of July, according to Flagler County deputies.
Deputies were called to a home on Bridgehaven Drive in the evening after reports of several bullets being fired into the residence.
Deputies said there were five adults and two young children in the home at the time of the shooting.
A report shows the group was sitting on their back lanai when the bullets shattered a window above their heads.
Deputies said the victims advised they were sitting around a table on the back patio when the light from the ceiling fan above was shattered.
The glass from the ceiling light globe struck one person on the patio, officials said.
Deputies said the victims also reported a shattered window as well as holes in the porch screen, lanai framing, and in a wall inside the residence.
Investigators found a total of four rounds struck the residence.
Deputies found the gunshot came from a home on Bressler Lane and Jamal “Jay” Kariem Ne Jame was identified as the homeowner.
Deputies said a search of the home recovered five 9mm casings in the backyard, and 15 firearms were seized from the residence.
According to a report, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Lab successfully linked one of the firearms and shell casings recovered from Ne Jame home to a projectile recovered from the victim’s home.
Deputies said Ne Jame is a licensed security officer in Florida and has worked both armed and unarmed security.
At the time of his arrest, Ne Jame was in possession of a replica firearm and multiple empty magazines from a firearm, deputies said.
“This guy lost his freedom and could have killed multiple people with his dangerous actions celebrating
July 4th,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Our Major Case detectives and CSI Unit did a remarkable job
canvassing the area and gathering evidence to solve this case. The apprehension of this subject was conducted in a well-planned operation and I’m glad no one was hurt. I commend all the deputies involved.”
Ne Jame was arrested and taken to jail, where he is being held on a $50,000 bond.
