Florida security officer detains murder suspect
FORT MYERS, Fla. March 13 2024
Two men are facing charges following a fatal stabbing that happened early Sunday morning at a nightclub in Fort Myers.
Fort Myers police were called to El Patron Nightclub at 3639 Palm Beach Boulevard just before 2 a.m., where they discovered a man had been stabbed. An altercation happened inside the club before a stabbing occurred outside on the plaza sidewalk, FMPD said.
He was immediately taken to a local hospital but pronounced dead upon arrival.
Officers helped a security guard, who had detained one of the suspects, search the area for a second suspect who fled the scene on foot.
Based on witness statements, homicide detectives learned that the suspects were roommates and were able to find a residence and detain the other involved subject.
After all evidence was collected, including surveillance footage and a search of the home, Domingo Rudy Velasco Ostuma, 25, and Jacinto Lopez-Sanchez, 24, were arrested on charges of second-degree murder and battery.
Both men are currently in custody at the Lee County Jail.
