Florida security officer shoots co-worker wounding him critically
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. Dec 4 2017Â – A security officer on duty at the Hollywood Water Treatment Plant was wounded after another security guard shot him Sunday morning, police said.
Officer Christian Lata, of the Hollywood Police Department, said the victim was shot after the two men argued around 6 a.m. in 3400 block of Hollywood Boulevard.
It’s unclear where the shooting took place, but police said the victim was found near a guard station outside the treatment plant.
Officers took the suspect into custody for questioning, but he has not been charged, Lata said.
The investigation is continuing and may be referred to the district attorney.
The victim was transported to a local hospital.
Police did not disclose the condition of the security officer who had been shot but a local media outlet reported that he was critical.
Officers confiscated the security guards’ firearms, Lata said.
Police did not identify the two men. Lata said officers are still investigating what caused the shooting.
The security officers were contractors employed by Regions Security, Lata said.
The company declined to comment on the shootings.
