Florida Security Officer Trying to Stop Domestic Violence Assaulted
RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. Dec 3 2022 A security guard for an apartment complex called Riviera Beach police about a suspicious person but this case turned out to be much more.
The victim was a 57-year-old woman who told the guard in person that her ex-boyfriend had been at her car.
According to the arrest report, “The caller further advised that the ex-boyfriend arrived at the guard gate and forced his way into the vehicle. The security guard said that the male is attacking [the woman] and trying to kill her. The security guard attempted to pull the male out of the vehicle but was in fear for his life.”
When two officers got there at about 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20, the guard said the former couple had already left the area in a blue Jeep, heading southbound on Military Trail.
Somehow, the officers found the Jeep at the intersection of Military Trail and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard with the doors open and lights on.
The arrest report said a witness “on scene that wants to remain anonymous” told them a woman and a man “were seen heading south towards the train tracks.”
The officers walked there “and heard a female screaming. [One] used his department-issued firearm and pointed it at the [man] who was later identified as Primo Morabilo, 55. Morabilo was standing over [the woman] in a fighting stance with both fists clenched. Morabilo was instructed to get on the ground, and he refused and proceeded to step closer to [the woman] while she was on the ground crying and asking for help.
“Morabilo told [the woman] that she was not going anywhere and [an officer] redirected Morabilo to the ground where he was placed under arrest. Morabilo spontaneously stated that he was just talking to his girlfriend.”
The report said the woman “appeared afraid, was crying, and was visibly shaken.”
It said she told officers, “She went to the store and came back home when she saw Morabilo walking to her apartment. [The woman] stopped the vehicle and Morabilo jumped on the hood. [The woman] was able to drive off in fear for her life and Morabilo jumped off and landed on the ground. [The woman] went to the security guard’s gate and told them to call the police and that Morabilo was going to kill her. While at the gate, Morabilo walked over to [the woman]’s vehicle and climb through the driver’s side window and told her to get in the passenger side seat.
“The security guard attempted to get Morabilo out of the vehicle but was met with negative results. Morabilo drove off with [the woman] inside and told her that he was going to break her neck and that he wanted to talk. Morabilo threw out [the woman]’s phone through the window and proceeded south on Military Trail. Morabilo was at the intersection of Military and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when [the woman] exited the vehicle and asked for help.
‘I am going to kill you b____, get up, I am going to break your neck.’
“Morabilo exited and dragged [the woman] by her arms onto the north side of the train track in a dark area and said, ‘I am going to kill you b____, get up, I am going to break your neck.’ [The woman] was in fear for her life and started to scream when she saw the police lights. There was a dark blue ripped shirt behind [the woman]’s vehicle that belongs to Morabilo. There were no visible injuries on [the woman]’s body. [The woman] refused medics.
“Let It be noted that [the woman] and Morabilo are in an on and off relationship for one year.”
After that, the officers talked with the security card who “confirmed the incident” and “stated that there was a ripped piece of shirt by the south side of the security guard gate.”
An officer also wrote, “It should be noted that Morabilo had an odor of alcohol beverage emitting from his breath. Officers were dispatched to the address yesterday for a domestic disturbance.”
Primo Morabilo was charged with carjacking and kidnapping.
He was arrested and taken to the hospital for medical clearance. Then, he was taken to the Riviera Beach Police Department for processing and later turned over to the Palm Beach County jail for booking.
Morabilo was booked on Nov. 20 at 6:52 a.m. and has been at the Main Detention Center ever since.
