Fontana Kohl’s security agent stabbed in shoplifting confrontation
Fontana CA May 23 2017 A man pepper-sprayed Kohl’s department store loss-prevention workers and stabbed one of them in the torso after the workers detained two women who had left the store without paying for items, according to a Fontana Police Department news release.
The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The trio got away after the Thursday incident at the Kohl’s in the 14900 block of Summit Avenue. But later that day, police arrested the suspects at their residence in the 800 block of South Cypress Avenue in Ontario, police said.
Police say Tina Lorraine Morin, 55 — who was on probation in a federal drug-trafficking case — and Cherokee Marie Hicks, 39 — who had several outstanding warrants — left the store while concealing numerous items. After they were detained, police say Larry James Meyer, 34 — a registered sex offender who was on parole for possession of brass knuckles — attacked the workers in an attempt to free the women.
Meyer has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and robbery and is being held without bail, court and jail records show. Morin and Hicks were arrested on suspicion of robbery and have not been charged, records show.
