Former church youth group volunteer facing child porn, sexual animal abuse charges
Rapides Parish LA July 27 2020
A former volunteer with a church youth group faces possession of child pornography and sexual abuse of animals charges.
Isac Calderon-Sierra is being held in the Rapides Parish Detention Center in Alexandria on a fugitive warrant after his arrest Monday.
The 22-year-old is facing 305 counts of possession of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13 and five counts of sexual abuse of animals, according to the Attorney General’s Office.
Sexual abuse of animals can occur when a person engages in sexual contact with an animal; possesses or sells an animal with the intent that it be subject to sexual contact; organizes, promotes or aids as an observer in any act involving sexual contact with an animal; or films, distributes or possesses pornographic images of a person and animal engaged in any of those activities, according to state statutes.
The arrest was the result of a joint investigation with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Fugitive Apprehension Unit, Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Calderon-Sierra was a former volunteer for an inter-parochial youth group that met at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Church in Ville Platte, according to a statement from the Diocese of Lafayette.
“In keeping with our Safe Environment protocols, Mr. Calderon never had any opportunity to be alone with any youth during youth group gatherings, nor have we received any complaints in connection with the youth group,” said Communications Direct Blue Rolfes in a statement.
Rolfes would not say when Calderon-Sierra was a volunteer or what his responsibilities were. She did say it had been some time since the youth group met because of the coronavirus pandemic.
