Former college security officer awarded $300,000 after being sexually assaulted
Chadron NE Dec 12, 2021
A federal jury awarded $300,000 to a former Nebraska state college student Thursday.
The woman was sexually assaulted while working as a security guard at Nebraska’s Chadron State College.
Her lawsuit alleged Chadron state’s ‘Title IX’ coordinator failed to protect her after a student-athlete admitted he raped her.
The suit said the coordinator promised to remove the suspect from campus.
Instead, he was ordered not to have contact with the woman, and to attend counseling.
After continuing to encounter the man on campus, the woman said she experienced repeated panic attacks and had to limit her course of study.
