Former Hindsdale police chief accused of shoplifting at Walmart
Hinsdale MA Oct 1 2018
A woman once in charge of enforcing the law is now accused of breaking it.
Former Hinsdale police chief Nancy Daniels, 52, was arraigned Wednesday on a single charge of shoplifting, reports the Berkshire Eagle.
Daniels on Sept. 19 allegedly failed to scan $71.68 worth of merchandise at a North Adams Walmart. Store security told police Daniels is also a suspect in previous thefts.
Daniels appeared in Northern Berkshire District Court, where the charge was continued without a finding and dismissed upon payment of $100 in court fees.
Daniels, a North Adams resident, was fired as Hinsdale police chief in 2014 for allegedly failing to acquire adequate training. She had been named chief in 2013. The U.S. Equal Opportunity Commission in 2015 determined Daniels’ firing was discriminatory.
