Fort Myers shoplifter pulls knife-pepper spray on loss prevention agent
Fort Myers FL March 11 2018 A Fort Myers shoplifter pulled a knife and a can of pepper spray on a Macy’s loss prevention agent on Thursday.
Deputies said Mariah Sanchez was armed with both when she went to Edison Mall in Fort Myers looking for a five-finger discount on Thursday.
She was at Macy’s where reports said she grabbed a large amount of merchandise. A security agent for the store recognized her as a known shoplifter.
After the loss prevention agent witnesses Sanchez concealing store merchandise, the agent approached her at which time she pulled out the weapons and threatened the security agent.
The security agent walked away from Sanchez who took off in her car but not before he got her license plate number and notified law enforcement.
Deputies went to Sanchez’s home where they arrested her on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has at least 10 mug shots for the 21-year-old, many for petty theft and burglary.
