Fresno security guards save a man from a burning room
Fresno CA Feb 4 2020 Two Fresno security guards went above and beyond the call of duty to save a man in a burning building.
The two snuffed out what could have been a major fire and the whole thing was caught on camera.
The body cam video came from Salvador Aceves a security guard with Pacific Valley Patrol.
He and his partner inhaled a lot of smoke, but they pulled a disabled veteran from a burning bathroom Wednesday afternoon at the Travel Inn Motel in west central Fresno.
“I came around the corner, I saw smoke coming out of the building. I decided to come and see what was going on and everybody was screaming there’s a fire.”
The motel was quickly evacuated but the bathroom where the smoke was coming from was locked.
“Got some extinguishers. Tried to put the fire out as best as we can and get the smoke out and that’s when we confirmed yeah there’s still somebody inside.”
They finally got the door unlocked but the smoke was thick.
“Went in there pulled him out. We walked him over to the car and waited for the ambulance.”
The victim Emmett Smith was taken to the hospital for treatment. He was later arrested by Fresno Fire on arson charges.
Despite the criminal ending two security guards made a difference rescuing a man from a room on fire while also leading others to safety.
