GA. Pacific security officers save drowning child’s life
BIG ISLAND, Va July 28 2017 In Bedford County, two security guards are being honored as heroes. It was two weeks ago that a pair of guards from the Georgia Pacific paper mill in Big Island helped save a 2 year old boy who nearly drowned.

A day of celebration. The reason? Just two weeks ago in their hands was the life of a two year old boy, Judah Anderton.
Two weeks ago Judah Anderton nearly drowned in his family’s swimming pool. Today the pool is knocked down.
When his dad found him in the pool he was blue, lifeless . They couldn’t get cell reception so the entire family got in the car and drove for help.
“It was both strange and panicky at the same time,” said Anderton’s 10-year-old brother, Marshall.
They drove a few miles down the road to the Georgia Pacific Paper mill where they met Nowlin and Humphreys, US security guards with CPR training.
After five minutes of CPR, Anderton was back.
First responders came and took him to UVA where doctors say he is expected to make a full recovery.
The guards are still in shock over what happened.
“I get too emotional to talk about it,” said Humphreys.
“I’m just so happy to see him running around and having fun,” said Nowlin.
The family says they are still in disbelief trying to comprehend what has happened, but they are thankful to the guards and the community.
“It was just a nightmare. I couldn’t bear to lose him. I would miss his smile. We are just so lucky and blessed,” said Anderton’s brother, Marshall.
