Galley Bay Resort security guard pleads guilty in theft
Antigua July 8 2019 Barrisha Gordon, the security guard who stole close to US$3,000 in electronics from a hotel guest a week ago, pleaded guilty when she appeared before Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh.
The 20-year-old Green Bay woman was fined EC$4,000 and if she does not pay that sum by September 13, she will be jailed for 18 months, according to a source close to the case.
The evidence was that, on June 27, a guest at Galley Bay Resort, Lauren Dunn, left her room shortly after 7 o’clock that night. Upon returning about an hour later, Dunn could not find her I-phone 10 and Go Pro Camera which she had left inside.
The items are valued at US$2,800. The theft was reported to the hotel’s manager who immediately summoned the police. Staff and security were then barred from leaving their posts at the hotel.
