HONOLULU HI February 15 2019
Police are still investigating a vicious attack on a security officer that occurred on Tuesday.
The security officer, on duty at the Towers at Kuhio Park was attacked, knocked to the ground and savagely beaten by at least 15 teenagers according to a police report.
One witness, who wanted to remain anonymous, reported hearing a commotion outside and noticed a security officer from Richard Lane on the housing property walking back to the bridge, when the group of about fifteen kids started following him.
“I heard one kid saying he was going to shoot him, so I called 911, but it was too late, they were already beating him” said the witness.
Witnesses say the security officer was on the ground being punched, kicked and beaten.
When two other security guards arrived, the teens were heard saying they were going to be attacked next.
A witness said there were ‘loud thuds,’ and heard glass shattering.
According to the witness, after the police arrived, the group of teens scattered and they did not see police take anyone into custody.
The group of kids are said to be drinking alcohol at the same spot every night and that the security officer was attempting to disperse them.
The security officer was rushed to the hospital and received staples to his head to close a large wound.
Honolulu Police have opened a second-degree assault investigation, and no arrests have been made at this time.
