Garda truck dumps $100-$175000 unto I285 in Georgia

Police say money spilled onto Interstate 285 Tuesday evening, leaving drivers grabbing the money by the fistfuls.
Dunwoody Police Department got a call for about vehicles stopped in the westbound lanes near Ashford Dunwoody Road. The caller said people were outside of their cars grabbing the money that had fallen onto the interstate.
Responding officers found a GARDA armored car pulled over on the right shoulder.
Officials say the side door of the vehicle came open while they were driving, and money spilled onto I-285.
Officers were able to collect around $200, much more had not been recovered.
In fact, an estimate by security officials puts the loss between $100,000 and $175,000.
Videos went viral on social media showing vehicles stopped and people on the side of the road under trees grabbing up cash off the ground.
But beware: “Finders, keepers,” isn’t actually law.
“While we certainly understand the temptation, it’s still theft and the money should be returned,” Dunwoody Police wrote on Facebook.
“We are hoping many will return the money said Sgt. Robert Parsons.
“We also may have plenty of video on social media and tag numbers / people to investigate if people chose not to return it,” Parsons added.
So far, six people have come to police to return money. Police estimate that value to be around $4,400. They said the people saw the department’s Facebook post and decided to return it.
