Georgia security officer attacked, knocked unconscious at construction site
Athens GA Oct 28 2017 An investigation is underway after a 27-year-old security officer was
attacked and assaulted while on duty at a construction site.
While patrolling the property, the security officer stated that he was struck in the head with a piece of wood by a subject.
Athens-Clarke County police said that they responded early Wednesday to a Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center construction site on Georgia Avenue where they found the injured officer.
After the security officer was attacked, a fight ensued, but the security guard again was struck on the head with the wood and lost consciousness, according to the police report.
The security officer has named a possible suspect in the assault and police are trying to locate him.
The security officer stated that the man has a history of assaulting law enforcement officers as well as being involved in incidents in the vicinity of the Prince Avenue hospital, police said.
