Girl Bites Police Officer In Pentagon City After Escape From Cruiser
ARLINGTON, VA June 29th 2022 — Arlington County police accused a girl of biting a police officer Monday afternoon when she was being detained on suspicion of shoplifting in the Pentagon City Mall area.
The officer, who was not identified, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The unnamed girl suffered minor injuries and declined treatment from medics on the scene.
Police said they obtained petitions for shoplifting, identity theft, forging public records, escape from custody and malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer against the underage girl.
Arlington County police responded to the 1100 block of South Hayes Street in Pentagon City shortly after 2:30 p.m. Monday to a report of a shoplifter in custody.
A girl entered a business, concealed merchandise and left without paying, police said. A store security guard detained the girl, police said.
The girl provided false identifying information to officers, who were nevertheless able to identify her, police said.
Officers placed her inside an Arlington County police cruiser, but she pushed past an officer and ran from the police car, police said. The officer chased after the girl and caught up with her, police said. The girl bit the officer as he was trying to detain her, police said.
