Good Samaritan finds $27k on the ground, returns it to Wayne Westland Federal Credit Union
WESTLAND, MI Jan 25 2020 Imagine finding $27,000 outside of an ATM at your local bank. Metro Detroit resident George Condash did when he went to his bank — Westland Federal Credit Union — and he says he didn’t think twice about what to do.
Video shows Condash going out of his way to remove the bundle of cash and immediately take it inside to the tellers. It turns out, an armed security guard had left the money in the roadway on accident.
“I drove right around here and it was sitting about right here,” Condash told WDIV. “Well, first, I just thought it was trash. For some reason it hit me that, ‘Why don’t I just pick this up so no one else has to swerve around it?'”
The box said $40,000 but inside was actually $27,000.
“It’s not mine and any honest person, I would hope, would take it back in,” Condash said.
The bank gave Condash a small token of appreciation, according to WDIV.
No word on who the security company involved in the incident was.
