Gun Found In Man’s Crotch At Christ Hospital After He Assaulted Security Officer
OAK LAWN, IL November 23 2018— A Chicago man was arrested after he shoved a security officer and was discovered to be packing a handgun at Advocate Christ Medical Center, prosecutors said.
Tushawn Trimble, 23, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a felony charge of aggravated unlawful use of a loaded weapon. Trimble was also charged with three misdemeanors, including possession of ammunition without a FOID card, battery and assault.
Oak Lawn police were dispatched to the hospital for a disturbance around 7:25 p.m. Nov. 19. When officers arrived, hospital security officers already had Trimble in custody. While at the hospital, Trimble had allegedly tried to access another floor when he was detained by security. Trimble exchanged words with a security officer and shoved him, after which he started yelling that he was going to kill the hospital staff, the prosecutor said.
Trimble was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery. When police searched him, the prosecutor said that officers found a loaded 9mm handgun hidden in Trimble’s crotch.
“After the incident, we had yesterday they found a gun,” Felice said, referring to the shooting at Mercy Hospital where three people were killed. “Combined with the threats and pushing and a loaded gun, this is a violent act.”
The prosecutor said that Trimble has no prior criminal history. Trimble told the judge, against the advice of the assistant public defender, that “I’m not a violent individual at all.”
“I didn’t do half the allegations they said I did,” Trimble said. “My girl was in labor and they wouldn’t let me up. Me and the security officer had words.”
Bail was set at $5,000. Trimble is to report regularly for pre-trial monitoring. Timble’s next court date is Dec. 17 in Bridgeview.
