Gunfire during a carjacking seriously injured a security guard
MEMPHIS TN April 29, 2025 A security guard at a restaurant on Frayser Boulevard around 7 p.m. was walking to her vehicle when a gunman approached her.
That gunman had waited by a bike for the woman to come out of the restaurant, according to police.
Security employees at the Ridgecrest Apartments, where the woman worked as a security guard, told police that they’ve had multiple encounters with him in the past and that the gunman tried to force the woman to give him her keys to her Mercedes at gunpoint.
The woman returned fire before the gunman ran off toward the Ridgecrest Apartments, MPD said. The security guard was hit several times.
Police said first responders rushed the woman to Regional One in critical condition.
