Hard Rock employee found longtime career opportunities with the casino
BRISTOL Va. October 29, 2023— A Hard Rock employee who used to work in corrections found long-term career opportunities with the casino.
Chynna Zanow, 30, was living in South Carolina, working as a correctional officer for a year and a half. She planned to make law enforcement her longtime career, but when she had her daughter, Zanow decided to become a stay-at-home mom.
After her husband left the military, Zanow and her family were looking for a new start. When she heard about the Hard Rock Casino in Bristol, she was intrigued.
“It was disheartening looking for jobs,” Zanow said. “I had never been to a casino before starting this job, but I was fascinated by the opportunity.”
Zanow was hired as a security supervisor, a job she has held for a year and a half.
“This job is exactly what I want to do,” Zanow said. “I have zero regrets taking this job. It was an amazing decision.”
Zanow said she has never worked for a company like Hard Rock.
“The other places that I’ve worked don’t touch the way that Hard Rock runs,” Zanow said. “They provide a healthy work environment, where they believe in and recognize their employees.”
Zanow said working at Hard Rock also provided her with financial stability.
“When we moved here, we planned to live in an apartment for a few years,” Zanow said. “I had never felt financially stable enough to buy a home, but after 10 to 11 months at Hard Rock, we decided to buy our first home. I didn’t expect it to happen the way that it did.”
She said the casino goes above and beyond for its employees by providing lots of holidays, contests, giveaways and team-building activities.
“They only owe us a paycheck,” Zanow said, “but they go above and beyond what’s expected of them.”
In addition to providing a healthy and supportive workplace, Zanow said Hard Rock is dedicated to serving their community. Since they opened, Hard Rock has donated to local organizations and provided volunteer opportunities for their community.
Zanow participated in the 9/11 stair climb, which Hard Rock sponsored. She said participating in this event was a turning point in her life.
“I have never done anything like that before in my life,” Zanow said. “It was the most difficult thing I have ever done, but it was also a turning point for me. I learned that if you set your mind to something, you can do it. I would never have participated in this kind of event if I didn’t work here and have encouraging and supportive peers to participate with.”
Zanow said she loves coming to work and doing her job. She plans to make Hard Rock her long-term career.
