Harrah’s casino adds patrol dog to its security staff
STATELINE, NV May 24 2019 Harrah’s and Harveys Lake Tahoe have beefed up – or rather pooched up – its security when it added 1.5-year-old Belgian Malinois named Greta to its staff.
Greta will patrol both Tahoe properties and sometimes Harrah’s Reno and will do periodic searches, the casinos announced Wednesday in a statement. While Greta will use her eyes and ears on the job it’s her nose that makes her distinctly talented, the casino said.
Tony Broadfoot, her handler, worked as a police canine officer before joining the casino staff as a security officer.
Greta is the first security dog trained for a Ceasars Entertainment property outside of Las Vegas, the casino said. She is getting used to Northern Nevada.
“Vegas is okay, but I really dig Lake Tahoe,” Greta was quoted as saying in a casino statement. “I give it two paws up!”
