Harrah’s casino security officers detain man for choking wife
JOLIET IL March 15 2018 – A Joliet man was arrested after he allegedly choked his girlfriend, who had accompanied him to Harrah’s casino and was playing a slot machine when he attacked her, police said.
About 8:15 p.m. Monday, security guards at Harrah’s casino reportedly saw James Casillas, 31, of the 1000 block of Summit Street walk up to a woman sitting at a slot machine and choke her by wrapping his arm around her neck, Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said in an email.
The woman later was identified as Casillas’ 24-year-old girlfriend and it was determined she had accompanied him to the downtown casino, Gregory said.
Security guards from the 151 N. Joliet St. casino detained Casillas and Joliet police officers arrived to arrest him on a charge of aggravated domestic battery.
Casillas was booked into the Will County jail shortly before midnight Monday. He was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
In 2016, Casillas was arrested on a charge of domestic battery. The case was headed to jury trial but later dropped because of a lack of a complaining witness, according to court records.
