Highly intoxicated woman assaults hospital security personnel
Mankato MN Aug 26 2017 A 20-year-old woman had a blood-alcohol content of more than 0.36 percent when she kicked a security officer in the face at a Mankato hospital, where she was being treated for severe intoxication and other medical needs, charges say.
Nyaroam A. Khon, 20, of Mankato, remained jailed Thursday on charges of felony assault, misdemeanor disorderly conduct and underage consumption of alcohol in connection with her alleged outburst on Aug. 18 at Mayo Clinic Health System.
She also was drunk on April 2, when she defied orders to get out of a Mankato apartment and broke a television and table, then pulled the fire alarm before leaving, according to charges in that pending case.
According to the criminal complaint from last week’s incident:
A hospital security officer escorted Khon from the emergency room to a secluded area because she was not following the staff’s directions.
Even after a second officer arrived, Khon refused to enter the secure area and the officers carried her in.
While being carried, Khon kicked one officer in the face. Once she was subdued, the hospital activated its panic alarm for police assistance.
Khon was taken to a detox facility in New Ulm, Minn., where a preliminary breath test measured her blood-alcohol content at 0.367 percent.
A message was left with Khon’s attorney seeking a response to the latest allegations.
