Home Depot employee arrested on suspicion of stealing $14K worth of merchandise
MADISON, Wis. Dec 6 2018 – A Home Depot employee was arrested Thursday after store security staff members say he has stolen more than $14,000 worth of merchandise over several months, according to a release.
Madison police were called to the Home Depot at 4550 Verona Road around 5:30 a.m. after store surveillance cameras showed 33-year-old Tremaine R. Williams, of Madison, repeatedly taking smart home products, officials said.
According to the release, Williams took security cameras and thermostats by concealing them in a backpack over several months.
Security staff members told the police department Williams posted stolen merchandise for sale on his Facebook page.
Williams was arrested at the store on a tentative charge of felony retail theft. He was also arrested on a probation violation.
