Homewood Alabama security guard charged with attempted murder
Homewood AL April 18 2018 A security guard has been charged with attempted murder after an early-morning shooting outside Walmart, Homewood police said Wednesday.
Anthony Lamont Winston, 34, of Birmingham was taken to the Jefferson County Jail on $15,000 bond.
The shooting happened about 1 a.m. Tuesday at the Lakeshore Parkway.
Homewood police Sgt. John Carr said the contract security guard got into an altercation with another man and ended up shooting him in the upper torso.
The security guard, Carr said, was not trying to prevent a crime at the time of the shooting.
The victim was taken to the hospital, treated and already released.

Three men, who were all shot, were located a short ways down the road by police.
Police are checking surveillance cameras, interviewing everyone involved and could make an arrest or refer the case to the district attorney soon.
The attempted burglars drove away and crashed about a mile from the store on the Katy Freeway feeder road.
An officer who was driving by saw the wrecked car. All three of the suspects are wounded. One is in critical condition.
No firearms were stolen from the business.
Police are still trying to determine if the men shot at the security guard.
