Houston police chief says security guards were injected with drugs at music festival
Houston TX November 8 2021 At a music festival where 8 people were killed, dozens hospitalized and more than 300 injured and treated on scene, police now say that at least two security officers were drugged.
As the investigation into the deadly Astroworld Festival continues, authorities confirmed that several security guards and one person concert guest were injected with a needle during the concert.
Houston Police Chief Troy Finaler said that one of the security guards working at the festival were trying to grab or detain someone in the midst of turmoil when they felt a puncture wound in their neck before losing consciousness and emergency workers used Narcan to revive the security guard and several others who fell unconscious.
Medical staff noticed a puncture wound that resembled a puncture wound that would occur if someone tried to inject.”
Investigators were still looking for other security guards who were involved and are still piecing together information.
The incident confirms previous rumors that someone was injecting drugs into people at a concert, but Finaler warned against speculating the cause of the crowd accident. At least 8 people died and hundreds were injured.
“Currently, there are many stories on social media,” Finner said. “I think we all need to respect our families and follow the facts and evidence.”
Finner said he is working with investigators to get the festival video from the event promoter Live Nation Entertainment.
Many were injured when participants began to advance to the stage on Friday night, officials said.
It is not yet clear what caused the casualties.
Both Travis Scott and the event organizer issued a statement on Saturday morning in light of the reported deaths.
