Hungry shoplifter punches Wegman’s store security while stealing a sandwich

A man arrested Monday afternoon shortly after allegedly assaulting a Wegmans’ security officer and fleeing the supermarket at 201 William St. with a sandwich has been identified as Dario Blount, 31, of 1414 Vikings Court, city police said.
After punching the officer in the face, Blount fled, but was soon apprehended by a police officer about two blocks away, it was alleged in a court document.
Following his arraignment before District Judge Aaron Biichle on charges of felony robbery, shoplifting and possession of a controlled substance (he had on him five bags of marijuana plus two containers of drugs, police said), Blount was jailed in lieu of $75,000 bail.
